The heavy rain did not please the large crowd and it impacted on the play of both sides with the fisticuffs being used freely that made the match more for gutter snipes than men. After an even first term the Mornington team put it together led by Williams attacked time and again finally breaking through for a
couple of late goals to take a lead into the break. A spectator struck Jack Williams of Frankston that created a melee and things looked ugly for a time with spectators rushing the arena. Several strong passages of play extended the umpires patience but he stood up to the challenge and restored some order. As much as the red and blacks tried they never gained the ascendency and after a tame last quarter Mornington took home their second Premiership.
