Club Announcement

The Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League cancelled its 2020 season this morning.

Club President Rob Smith attended a zoom meeting with all 22 MPNFL Presidents. It is important for supporters to know that the MFNC Committee, Coaches and Players were 100% in for a 2020 Season and our vote was YES to play.

In the meeting at least six clubs indicated a “no-play’’ stance and five were undecided, meaning a traditional season was impossible. Clubs had concerns over new compliance guidelines, increased infection rates, financial implications for clubs and the burden on volunteers were the major factors in calling the season off.
While disappointed in the outcome we do respect that all MPNFL clubs had to make decisions with what was in the best interest for their club & the position they were in. Our club was and still is confident that we could manage the protcols & were putting in place all the necessary requirements for a season to go ahead.

In the meeting there are a number of clubs who were willing to go forward, like ourselves, and the SEAFL we will work with us & others for the potential of an informal type structure for 2020. We will keep our players and supporters up to date with any news as it comes to hand.
There was no call made on Womens Football as they play in a different competetion and a meeting is in place Monday Night.

We would like to take this time to thank Club President Robert Smith, the Committee, Coaches, Sponsors & Players for all the commitment & hard work they have given to the club over the past few months in this every changing world we live in.

Remember at these times to look after each other as we are in this #togetherasone.

Go Doggies!!!
