New Pavilion

We Did it!
On behalf of Alexandra Park Project Inc. we are pleased to announce The Federal Government along with Greg Hunt, our local Federal Liberal Member of Parliament have today committed $2.6m towards the redevelopment of Alexandra Park. This cements the development of new rooms and facilities for Alexandra Park and it users. It truly is a great day.
We are excited by this announcement for the users and the community. It will be the envy of all and provide great facilities and services to the community for generations to come.
A highlight of the plans has been the opportunity to work with The Bays Hospital. The Bays Hospital is an iconic part of Mornington’s history being over 80 years old and the old Mornington bush hospital. Given the football and cricket club history at Alexandra Park being over 100 years, it makes the partnership even more special.
Alexandra Park community rooms will be used for both sport, health, community, wellness and rehabilitation. The Bays will use a portion of the redevelopment to deliver health, wellness and rehabilitation services to its many patients. Some of these patients are recovering from cancer and to be able to utilise such great new facilities to recovering patients is fantastic.
The sports users of course get all new state of the art change rooms, storage rooms and community rooms upstairs to be utilised by sporting groups and community groups like Wallara who lease the facility currently.
The plans were developed in consultation with all user groups, The Bays Hospital, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council Officers, and Shire Counsellors. In addition we worked with our Federal Member of Parliament Greg Hunt. We explained our vision to Greg. He immediately recognised what we were trying to achieve and has been a great support. Without Greg’s and Mornington Peninsula Shire Councils help and financial support these rooms would not be built. We are indebted to their support to us and the community.
Most importantly none of this could have been achieved without the support of Alexandra Park Project Foundation members who financially supported our fund raising in the infancy stages of the project.
The Project is funded as follows
Federal Govt $2.6m
Community $500k
The balance of funds coming from the Shire.
Special mention to the Alexandra Park project committee who have worked hard for nearly 4 years on this. The committee is made up of Mick Wunderley, Martin Scanlon, Allison Dillon, David Hampton and Steve Pallas.
This is the start of a great period for Alexandra Park. You have the location and will soon have the pavilion and facilities to match.
