We got back to the good old days on Sunday at home, Mornington vs Mt.Eliza, lots of feeling in the game and in the crowd. Starting rank underdog we burst out of the gates and took a lead in to quarter time against the breeze. What followed in the second quarter was the traditional fight on the ground, broken leg in the crowd, followed by a heart attack then a barrage of abuse aimed at the umpires going up the race at half time. The game was evenly poised with the visitors getting the rub of the green with the men in white. The second half would be a war of attrition, Warwick Miller was starring up forward finishing with 7 goals, Jai Haddock was cutting them to ribbons through the middle, while Connor Mara, Jack Wells, James Turnbull and Mick McGowan were playing beyond their years. The final 2 minutes were a frenzy with Jackson Calder missing from 35m out to ice the game followed by another dubious free kick in the middle of the ground to the visitors, and with a few seconds on the clock Mount Eliza took a mark in a goal square that would’ve had 20 players surrounding the ball. With that the siren went and with a kick after the siren Mt.Eliza won by 5 points. I couldn’t have asked more from my boys, great effort, sometimes footy just isn’t fair.

With 2 games to go this week was always going to be a challenge against one of the top teams in the competition from the first bounce the boys were up against it ,but for 3 quarters the boys had a real crack and tried there hardest .With the last quarter on its way the boys were just about cooked but kept on fighting right to the end. With one game to go I hope the boys rally around and we all have a real crack and try and finish of with a win.

Another great morning for footy greeted us on Sunday and we were very much looking forward to taking on the ladder leaders on our home deck.
This game of footy promised a lot a didn't disappoint as over the 80 minutes both teams displayed a high level of football with the boys just falling away in the last 10 minutes. Our attitude remains upbeat and we once again look forward to testing ourselves against another high quality opponent in Edi-Asp. Win and our season continues, a loss essentially means that a great opportunity has been let slip.

A GRADE
Possibly the most important game of the season this was for our A Grade girls, sitting 4th on percentage just above Mt Eliza. The girls came out firing, absolutely ready to go. Jess Gordon had a battle on her hands in defence against Mt Eliza’s highly rated goaler. Tess Cooper had a brilliant battle against her opposition centre who ran her legs off all day. Katey Rudolph withstood some serious defensive pressure in the goal ring and gave a brilliant show for her return into A grade under some enormous pressure. It was a tight match throughout and the result could of gone either way if it weren’t for some ball handling errors towards the end of the match but Mt Eliza ended up coming away with a 2 point win. Brilliant match to watch just bitterly disappointing result for the girls after such an enormous physical and emotional effort.

B GRADE
The B grade girls had a real battle on their hands against the Mt Eliza side on Sunday. Chris Anthony was superb through the mid-court and Eliza Tatham had a bet on court performance in defence. Jackie Eastgate also played a stellar game in goals for her first time up into B grade. Great effort girls.

C GRADE
C grade went down to Mt Eliza by 20 goals. We had 2 really well played quarters & 2 below average ones. My best on was Melissa who gave us a pretty consistent game with some awesome passing into the goalers. Unfortunately we were outplayed by a better drilled team on the day. Thank you to Ainslie who came up from D grade and had a ripper game

D GRADE
D grade were our only side to come away with a very exciting win. This pushes us back into the top 4. With 1 game left and the top team being our last game to stay in finals contention, we have our work cut out for us. My best on yet again goes to the team as a whole. Every single player gets out there and gives it their all. They are an impressive bunch of girls. 1 game left !!!! We will all be giving it 100% for our chance at finals.
